I kinda expected more to be honest, even for five bucks. The sounds are kind of low quality, harsh, the enviroments you're supposed to light up start pitch black so you're groping around trying to start your fire and even then sometimes they stay pitch black and you just have this low quality mask+effects=flame in the middle of your screen. A little teaser of what's coming...:
Update 0.5 is here! Why not call it update 1.0 tho? Well, the reason for that is that there are pending changes to be done for this update, here's the changelog for this specific update: -New weapon >> That's right, the new energy pistol is here! More powerful than the rifle. -Removed sprint >> This has two reasons, the first being to improve the player's gaming experience, now you don't have to worry about running, aiming and shooting and repeating, now you move faster at default walk and can shot while moving among the enemies! The second reason is that older games from late 90's/early 2000 don't use sprint, you always move at the same speed, and since this is a retro-styled game... yeah. -Tweaked enemies waves >> Although their individual stats remain the same there are slightly less of them now, this along with the smoother player movement should make the game a bit easier. -New powerups and tweaks >> There are health packs and ammo packs now! However, to balance things out and make up for the easier gameplay, the omnicrates (the green boxes) give less ammo. -Quit Button >> Yeah, it was needed... sorry lol. -Bug Fix >> Someone reported a rather funny bug that would allow you to lift yourself up in the sky and leave the map, yeah we fixed that. >> Improved enemies' sounds >> They are the same sounds at the moment, however, we made some modifications with the way they play, now you can only hear them properly when they are in proximity, making those that are far less distracting. WHAT TO EXPECT FOR UPDATE 1.0 >> Update 1.0 (which was supposed to be today instead of 0.5) was meant to add the following things, but we decided to delay them because they need more work to be really good, you can expect these changes next Friday: - New Map - New Enemy - Improved Player Clips - Improved Item Spawn Points - Improvement to existing maps - Database of SCPs Encountered That's all for now! Feel free to comment your opinions and suggestions! You are the core of this game and its future!. v1.2 - Unexpected turn of events: Sup everyone! Yep, I'm still alive! Before I begin I will proudly announce the game has reached 62 downloads! I know, not that many, but I'm trilled nonetheless! I'm still working on the update v1.5. However, I decided I'm gonna release a new update before v1.5 which will be v1.2. Why? Simple, v1.5 is supposed to be an update to bring new things, not just fix stuff, and there are things in-game that need to be fixed. So here's the list of changes this new update will bring: - Muzzle flash effects on weapons and impact effects on projectiles The weapons look kinda bland without these, I'll add them for this update instead of v1.5 - Contact shadows This happens a lot with the Unity engine, there are objects that usually never cast shadow or if they do they look ugly, such as small objects, grass, etc. I found a way to fix that, it might not seem like much but it will truly make visual difference for the better, adding more realism to the lighting... I will show juicy before/after pics of the difference when the update is up. - Fix player clips Although I fixed 90% of the exploitable locations that would allow you to escape the map a member of the community was kind enough to show me I missed a few spots here and there so I'm gonna fix that. - Occlusion issues There are objects that disappear when you look at them from certain angles, I'll fix that too. And last but not least!!! It's too soon to add any campaign level, they are just not ready, HOWEVER, I decided I'm gonna throw a little demo in, mostly for fun and to test a few things the main campaign will have. I warn you tho, it won't be easy, and not because of the enemies, there will be puzzles, dead ends and also some degree of spooky content, I want to remind you that SCP: Derelict is not only a SciFi FPS, but also a Horror game where guns won't be always the solution, so I'm gonna put some horror elements to the test as well. Don't expect much tho, as I said, it's just a little demo, I might release more demos like that one in some updates, just for the heck of it, so please make sure to give me feedback throughout this process. That's all, thank you for taking the time to read, have a great day/night everyone!. Two new maps instead of one for next update!: Helloy everyone!! We decided to move the update date for a couple reasons, one to enjoy christmas and the second because we won't just add the 8th map for Survival Mode, but also completely replace the 4th map. The 4th map currently included is too small and its layout too broken to have an enjoyable gameplay (we know, other maps need better design as well, we're working on it! lol), so we decided to replace it with something new, something better! We won't give an specific update release date yet (you know, holidays) but it will definitely be this year! Stay tuned and merry christmas and an amazing new year for all of you!. Hello!!: Hi! I'm Badru! I started Ice Water Games, lead the Eidolon team, did a bunch of colors and design and code on Viridi, and uhh did some other stuff too!! I just made a Steam Creator page for myself here, if you want to follow my work: And hey also! I'm working on a new thing with some past collaborators (which may or may not end up coming out under the IWG label) - Michael Bell's doing the music and Isa Hutchinson's helping a bunch with design. It's a big open-world TRPG about wizardly goblins and fae spirits and elemental magics. Wishlist it if you're into the stuff we've worked on in the past? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1061610/Tenderfoot_Tactics/?curator_clanid=35059002 And also give it a follow! I think I'll be posting development updates over there very soon :). [PICS] v1.5: Yeeeah, this is just to get you pumped since you will get the v1.2 first haha, this is not a survival mode map just so you know but there are a few things here and there that will be part of it and the game in general. Disclaimer: This is still in development, what you see is gonna improve, change or even be replaced with something better... .
